Celebrate Día de los Muertos with hands-on STEM and creative projects, including paper marigolds, sugar skulls, and glowing LED candles. For homeschool students ages 9-18.
Homeschool STEM Build & Explore is a monthly program designed for homeschool students who love to create and discover. Each session blends cultural or historical learning with hands-on STEM and creative projects, giving homeschoolers the chance to explore big ideas in a fun and meaningful way.
This month, we are exploring the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday that celebrates and remembers loved ones who have passed. Students will learn about the meaning behind sugar skulls, marigolds, candles, and ofrendas through engaging learning stations. Activities include crafting bright paper marigolds, decorating sugar skulls, and building a glowing paper candle using simple LED circuitry. These projects introduce basic STEM concepts while connecting them to the holiday’s symbols and traditions.
Families can also browse our free homeschool curriculum collection during the program to take home resources that support continued learning.
Registration is encouraged to help us plan materials, but it is not required to attend. Families who do not register are still welcome to participate.
This program is designed for homeschool students ages 9 and up. All materials are provided!
